JOB SCOPE
Is responsible to collect, interpret, and present market data that supports strategic decision making. The position works closely with marketing, sales, and product teams to identify trends, assess market conditions, and provide actionable insights. This role is critical in helping the organization stay competitive, understand customer behaviour, and uncover growth opportunities. To analyse, interpret and report tourism research information and insights that assist Namibia tourism industry in domestic and international marketing. Coordinate and maintain the ongoing collection and insertion of secondary data sources into the Division’s tourism research databases.
Main responsibilities & performance areas
Data Collection & Analysis: Gather quantitative and qualitative data from internal and external sources (e.g., surveys, government databases, market research reports, CRM systems). Analyse market trends, customer demographics, competitor activities, and industry performance. Conduct SWOT, PESTEL, and competitor analysis to support marketing and promotions strategy development.
Reporting & Insights: Analyses and interprets secondary data, external reports and presentations from a range of qualitative and quantitative data sources. Analyses and interprets survey data and other tourism research projects. Performs desk research. Identifies patterns, gaps and opportunities arising from the analysis of tourism research. Prepares tourism research reports, publications and updates for management as required. Assists in the project management, design and/or implementation of both internal and outsourced qualitative and quantitative research projects and other strategic initiatives. Manages internal and external enquiries for tourism research information and materials. Liaises with agencies providing tourism data to ensure continuous and appropriate supply. Manages the division’s internal research database. Prepare detailed reports, dashboards, and presentations to visualize data and highlight key findings. Translate complex data into actionable insights for business units. Support the development of forecasting models and market projections.
Market Intelligence: Track industry news, economic indicators, and competitor developments. Maintain an up-to-date database of market and customer insights. Work with marketing, sales, finance, and product teams to support campaign planning and performance analysis. Provide recommendations based on data for new product launches, pricing strategies, and market entry. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and promotional activities using data-driven metrics.
Research Innovation: Implement innovative research methodologies to capture emerging tourism trends. Develop real-time data collection approaches for dynamic market monitoring. Create cross-platform analytics frameworks to evaluate omnichannel tourism experiences. Implement mobile ethnography and experience sampling methods for tourism research. Design research approaches that leverage location-based analytics – Implement digital journey mapping methodologies for tourism experience evaluation.
Stakeholder awareness creation: Consults the tourism industry regarding potential tourism research and matches relevant research information to their needs. Coordinates the communication and dissemination of tourism research and publication to internal staff, tourism industry and other external stakeholders. Maintains electronic access to relevant publications for internal and external delivery as required. Evaluates the efficiency of research products, programs and system as a management and industry tool
Research data dissemination: Research, analyses, interprets and reports on primary data, and disseminates to relevant stakeholders. Performs routine tasks and correspondence timeously. Compiles and submits reports according to specified timelines
Advance data Analytics: Implement advanced data analytics methodologies including predictive modelling and segmentation analysis. Develop tourism market forecasting models using statistical and machine learning approaches. Create data visualization frameworks that communicate insights effectively to diverse stakeholders. Implement sentiment analysis for tourism experience evaluation. Design competitive intelligence frameworks to support strategic decision-making. Develop attribution models to evaluate marketing effectiveness
Performance Indicators: Research alignment with strategic objectives (measured quarterly). Insights implementation rate. Decision support effectiveness. Research innovation metrics. Data quality indicators. Stakeholder satisfaction with research outputs. Research ROI metrics
Key Qualifications and Experience Required:
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Marketing, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related field
Key Experience:
Minimum 3 years in the field of research and/or data analysis

- Experience working with survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey).
- Knowledge of CRM and marketing analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, HubSpot).
- Understanding of market research methodologies and data interpretation
