JOB SCOPE
To lead and manage NTB’s enterprise support initiatives through the development and implementation of sustainable programs aimed at empowering tourism-related businesses, particularly SMEs and emerging entrepreneurs. The role focuses on capacity building, business advisory services, access to funding and resources, and improving the operational resilience of enterprises contributing to Namibia’s tourism ecosystem.
Main responsibilities & performance areas
Enterprise Development & Support: Design and implement structured enterprise development programs tailored for SMEs and emerging entrepreneurs in the tourism sector. Support enterprises with business planning, operational efficiency improvements, and market readiness. Facilitate linkages between tourism enterprises and business support services, including financing institutions. Provide advisory and mentoring support to enterprises to enhance business sustainability and competitiveness. Promote inclusive participation by marginalized groups (youth, women, rural-based entrepreneurs).
Capacity Building & Training: Coordinate and facilitate training sessions on business skills, financial literacy, customer service, and compliance. Partner with vocational and business training institutions to deliver customized short courses. Evaluate training programs and their effectiveness; recommend improvements for stronger impact. Maintain and update a skills development database for enterprises engaged with NTB programs.
Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with government agencies, development partners, and NGOs for support and funding collaborations. Strengthen public-private partnerships for enterprise development initiatives. Serve as the NTB focal point for enterprise-related projects and stakeholder forums. Develop informative and educational content (e.g. newsletters, web articles) showcasing enterprise success stories. Facilitates communication among stakeholders
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting: Track and report on the progress of enterprise development projects and training outcomes. Maintain a performance dashboard for enterprise support metrics (e.g., business success rates, training outcomes, job creation). Prepare quarterly and annual reports on enterprise development impact for internal and external stakeholders.
Administration & Strategic Input: Contribute to NTB’s strategic planning and operational budgeting for enterprise support. Assist in procurement planning and administration related to enterprise support services. Develop proposals for funding and strategic partnerships to scale enterprise programs.
Key Qualifications and Experience Required:
Postgraduate qualification (above NQF Level 7) in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Business Development, or related field.
Key Experience:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in enterprise development, SME support, or economic development, preferably within the tourism sector.
Special Requirements:
Willingness to travel and work extended hours when required
A full and current driver’s licence for a car.
