JOB SCOPE
To lead the Namibia Tourism Board’s (NTB) digital and creative marketing function by developing and managing integrated digital strategies, content creation, brand positioning, and audience engagement across web, mobile, and social media platforms. This role ensures NTB’s online presence effectively promotes Namibia as a premier travel destination, while managing a digital team and associated resources to deliver high-impact campaigns and digital experiences.
Main responsibilities & performance areas
Digital Strategy & Innovation Leadership: Develop and execute NTB’s comprehensive digital marketing strategy aligned with organizational goals. Lead the adoption and integration of digital technologies to expand global reach and visibility. Stay informed on emerging trends and tools in digital communications and tourism marketing to inform strategy. Drive innovation across digital platforms to enhance brand visibility and audience engagement. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure digital initiatives support broader organizational objectives. Monitor, analyse, and optimize digital campaign performance to maximize impact and effectiveness
Website & Content Management: Ensure website content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with strategic messaging. Drive UX improvements to enhance navigation, usability, and user engagement. Maintain accessibility standards to promote inclusivity for all users. Manage multilingual content to support diverse global audiences. Oversee website performance, functionality, and SEO/SEM strategies to boost visibility. Monitor analytics to optimize content effectiveness and continuous site performance improvements.
Social Media & Audience Engagement: Develop and implement NTB’s social media strategy and content calendar to align with brand goals. Lead content creation efforts to enhance brand messaging and encourage audience interaction. Oversee responses to inquiries and monitor brand sentiment to maintain a positive online presence. Cultivate online engagement and grow the digital community through targeted initiatives. Monitor social media analytics to evaluate performance and refine strategies for better results. Collaborate with teams to ensure consistent brand voice and messaging across all social channels.
Creative Asset Development & Brand Alignment: Lead the production of digital content, including graphics, videos, and animations, aligned with brand standards. Manage and maintain a compliant Digital Asset Library with accurate metadata and usage rights. Ensure consistency and quality across all creative outputs to uphold brand integrity. Collaborate with teams to develop innovative visual content that supports marketing and communication goals. Review and approve creative assets to ensure they meet quality standards and brand messaging. Stay informed on design trends and best practices to continually enhance the quality and impact of digital content.
Digital Media Monitoring & Reputation Management: Continuously monitor NTB’s digital and social media platforms to track mentions, feedback, and emerging issues. Analyse platform data to assess reputation, identify trends, and detect potential crises early. Develop and implement guidelines for responding to feedback, crises, and misinformation to ensure appropriate and consistent communication. Create and maintain knowledge resources such as FAQs to support team responses and ensure messaging consistency. Coordinate with internal teams to address negative sentiment and foster positive engagement with audiences. Generate reports on reputation trends and social media insights, providing recommendations to enhance NTB’s digital perception.
Graphic Design & Visual Content Development: To ensure the consistent development of high-quality visual content that aligns with NTB’s brand identity and enhances the impact of digital campaigns, marketing collateral, and stakeholder communications. Conceptualize and produce compelling graphics, layouts, and illustrations for digital and print platforms (e.g., social media, websites, presentations, brochures). Ensure all visual assets comply with NTB’s brand guidelines, including typography, colour schemes, and visual tone. Collaborate with marketing, web, and social media teams to design creatives for campaigns, promotions, and destination storytelling. Manage visual asset files within the Digital Asset Library with accurate tagging and usage rights. Support the development of animated and motion graphics as needed for digital campaigns. Review and edit creative content to maintain quality, consistency, and messaging accuracy.
Team Leadership & Project Oversight: Lead and manage a team of digital content creators, designers, and social media specialists to achieve departmental goals. Oversee the planning and execution of digital projects, including e-learning programs, campaigns, and website enhancements. Assign responsibilities and tasks to team members, ensuring alignment with project objectives and strengths. Monitor project progress, timelines, and budgets to ensure successful and on-time delivery of all initiatives. Foster effective collaboration, communication, and a positive team environment to enhance productivity and creativity. Evaluate project outcomes post-completion, gather feedback, and implement continuous improvements for future digital initiatives.
Reporting, Analytics & Budget Management: Produce comprehensive monthly and quarterly digital performance reports, highlighting key insights and strategic recommendations. Analyse engagement, conversion, and other key metrics to evaluate campaign effectiveness and identify optimization opportunities. Develop actionable insights and recommendations based on analytics to refine digital strategies and improve results. Oversee and manage digital campaign budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation and adherence to financial targets. Monitor financial performance and control costs to maintain accountability and maximize ROI across digital initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reporting processes and budget management align with overall digital marketing objectives.
Key Qualifications and Experience Required:
Postgraduate qualification (above NQF Level 7) in digital marketing, Multimedia, Communications, or related field.
Key Experience:
5 –7 years of experience in digital marketing or creative brand communication, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
Preferably digital marketing and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) experience. Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects). Strong visual storytelling and layout design skills. Understanding of digital formats, resolution, and optimization for web and social platforms. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously.
Special Requirements:
Certifications or training in SEO (Search Engine Optimization).
Google Analytics, Social Media Marketing, CMS (Content Management System).
Digital project management tools.
