NTB engages traditional authority in khorixas on tourism regulatory requirements

The Namibia Tourism Board (NTB) conducted an information engagement with the Traditional Authority in Khorixas as part of efforts to strengthen understanding of NTB’s mandate and the regulatory requirements applicable to tourism businesses operating in Namibia.

During the engagement, NTB representative Ricardo introduced the organisation and provided an overview of its mandate, including its role in the regulation, registration and promotion of the tourism sector. Particular emphasis was placed on the requirement for tourism businesses and accommodation establishments falling within NTB’s regulatory framework to register and operate in compliance with applicable tourism legislation.

The engagement was undertaken to provide the Traditional Authority with relevant regulatory information that could assist it in addressing an ongoing matter involving a local conservancy and leaseholders operating in the area.

Through engagements of this nature, NTB continues to strengthen awareness of tourism regulatory requirements at community level and support traditional authorities and other stakeholders with information relevant to tourism activities within their areas of jurisdiction.
